Abstract

Response Surface Methodology is an approach for design, optimization and development of processes and formulation of new products. This method has many application in the research departments of the universities, research institutes, research centers, and R&D of the industries.
Although in recent years, extensive studies have been conducted in the field of using this method to analyze and optimize various processes in water and wastewater treatment, but all studies are in the form of articles and there is no comprehensive book on this topic. This case prompted the author to write a book on this topic due to the experience of using this method. Reading this book will not only answer questions about this method in the field of industrial wastewater treatment, but also it can be used for optimization and analysis of other topics such as formulation, synthesis, and development of other chemical, biochemical, and biological processes.
This book consists of four chapters: The first chapter includes the introduction to the design of experiments and response surface method. In the second chapter, the application of the response surface method and the achievements of this method in different technologies of water and wastewater treatment have been investigated. Since the Design Expert software is one of the efficient software for modeling and optimizing processes with the response surface method, the third chapter of this book introduces this software and how to use it. In the fourth chapter of the book, there are examples of using the response surface method for modeling and optimizing wastewater treatment processes.
