Light, this fascinating and mysterious phenomenon, has always played a significant role in human life. Since ancient times, philosophers and artists have sought a deeper understanding of light and its effects on emotions and the environment. The translators of this work are proud to invite you on a fascinating and inspiring journey into the world of natural light. This book not only explores the scientific and philosophical study of light, but also reminds us of how we can utilize this living and dynamic element in the design of living and working spaces. Natural light, with its ability to shape spaces and influence human spirits, can act as a powerful tool in the hands of designers and architects. . In this translation, we have tried to convey the deep and fascinating concepts of this work in a fluent and pleasant language for Persian-speaking readers. We hope that this book will inspire designers, architects, and anyone who cares about the beauty and quality of life. This book, by referring to lights and shadows, can guide us to a better understanding of the surrounding environment.

We find ourselves amidst an era marked by an unprecedented polycrisis, where our agrifood systems grapple with intricate challenges that demand immediate attention. In the face of this complexity, technology and innovation emerge as powerful tools, capable of hastening the transformation towards agrifood systems that are not only resilient but also sustainable and inclusive. A critical aspect of this transformation lies in bridging the gap between the inception of a technology or innovation and its practical application. Success in this endeavor hinges on the creation of an environment conducive to maximizing benefits and minimizing challenges posed by potentially disruptive technologies. This report, employing foresight methodologies such as horizon scanning, scenario building, and strategic foresight, aims to address the knowledge gap surrounding emerging agrifood technologies and innovations across different time horizons—ranging from 2030 to 2050 and beyond. A clarion call to action, the report urges the improvement and repurposing of research and development programmes, policies, and investments within the realm of agrifood science, technology, and innovation. Beyond the confines of agrifood, the exploration extends to broader technological arenas, encompassing quantum physics, energy, materials, policy, market dynamics, and social innovations.

Humans need food to survive, which is obtained from the presence of water and soil. Soil is a valuable element in the continuity of the earth and one of the most valuable vital resources because it ensures the growth of plants and meets more than 97 percent of the world's food needs. Therefore, it plays an important role in the production of agricultural products and food security, and saving the lives of all creatures is related to saving this vital substance.<br />Agricultural productivity in any country is closely and tightly linked to the quality and depth of its agricultural soil, and it can be said that any country that has richer, more fertile and abundant soil resources and exploits them in the best and most appropriate way has guaranteed its stability, sustainability, security and prosperity.<br />Although scientifically, soil is considered a renewable natural resource, in practice it is considered a non-renewable resource due to the slow process of its formation.<br />Given that soil is a non-renewable natural resource and has multiple and vital roles in nature, its preservation is essential for a sustainable future, and it is seriously time to preserve and protect the soil and keep it alive for present and future generations with the efforts of people, experts and officials.

Climate change, environmental impacts, and limited natural resources necessitate scientific research and new technical solutions. The Green Energy and Technology monograph series serves as a platform for the dissemination of scientific and technological approaches to “green” – i.e. environmentally friendly and sustainable – technologies. While its focus is on energy and power supply, it also covers “green” solutions in industrial engineering and engineering design. Green Energy and Technology addresses researchers, advanced students, technical consultants, as well as decision-makers in industry and politics. Hence, the level of presentation varies from educational to highly technical. The present book is divided into two separate sections with a single goal of presenting technical and practical solutions for the application of solar energy in buildings and neighborhood scales. In terms of research methodology, the book uses a library and field method with case studies that have used solar solutions to provide energy in buildings and neighborhoods. Finally, eight chapters, from theory to practice, provide a comprehensive explanation of the basics of providing energy from active and passive methods from the sun. Suggestions at the end of the book provide up-to-date topics in the field in order to use the solutions introduced.

The coating industry is highly raw material intensive and uses a wide range of these raw materials, from relatively inexpensive minerals to high performance polymers and pigments to highly engineered specialty additives. Understanding Coatings Raw Materials intends to provide a comprehensive overview of the raw materials used in contemporary paints and coatings.<br />Significant advances have been made in the field of polymeric materials and coatings during the past few decades. Ever since the negative impacts of solvent based coatings on the environment and human health were recognized, the coating industry has been striving not only to address these impacts but also to offer better performing products to meet the ever growing demands to decorate, protect, and provide new functionalities to surfaces. This has led to the emergence and commercialization of such advanced technologies as waterborne coatings, high-solid coatings, powder coatings, radiation curable coatings, and bio-based as well as nanomaterial based coatings, to name a few. The raw materials used in today’s<br />advanced coatings are incredibly diverse and innovative compared to those used a few decades before. Understanding this growing palette of coating raw materials and their specific roles and interactions<br />with each other is increasingly challenging, both for new entrants as well as those already working in the coating industry.
